Napier is a city on the east coast of the North Island.

It has a population of about 60 000. Napier-Hastings has about 125 000 people.

One of its memorable events is the 1931 earthquake, which affected most of Hawke's Bay and killed over 200 people. The city centre rebuilding was mostly in Art Deco style and has become a tourist attraction, along with Pania of the Reef.

Hastings is a town on the south coast of England. (In "Sussex by the sea")
