Pukerua Bay is the northernmost suburb of Porirua City, located largely on a saddle looking south towards Plimmerton and north across northern Cook Strait to Kapiti Island.

Maori settlement centuries ago.

Name was "Pukerua" but confusion in the rail system with Pukerau caused the addition of "Bay".

First urban settlement by Europeans early in the 20th century, mostly on and overlooking the coast.

Pukerua Bay School[]

On 24 September 2009, the local full primary school saw its website go live, ushering in a new type of learning. See "Kapi-Mana News" October 13, 2009, p 30.

Pukerua Bay Railway Station[]
