Robert (Rob) Fruean was a head boy at Porirua College then an accounting student at VUW.
He was a key player in the team that won the Under-19 Rugby World Cup in April 2007 - see Kapi-Mana News 15/5/07, page 1. He earned a place in the Wellington squad for the Air New Zealand Cup.
Then he took the title of Porirua's Young Sportsperson of the Year in October 2007 - see Kapi-Mana News 9/10/07, page 2.
