Tauranga is a thriving city in the western Bay of Plenty. It includes the country's largest port.
It's NZ's fastest growing city, with 120 000 people.

History[]
First settled 1250-1300. Maori name Tauranga-Moana.
For some time after the 1989 reorganisation of local government, the enlarged Tauranga was a district, but it later persuaded the authorities that it deserved the "city" title".
