Waitati is a settlement at the south-west corner of Blueskin Bay about 20 km north of central Dunedin. The Dunedin Northern Motorway ends just inland of the former State highway (the Mount Cargill Road).
To the north is Evansdale; north-east across the bay is Warrington; to the east is Doctors Point; to the south-east, at the head of a small estuary, is Orokonui.
